Sassy Vegan Shoes: A Necessity

Recently, a friend said to me "I just don't think I can commit to vegan shoes." This is an absolutely valid comment, seeing as how vegan shoes can often look...vegan. However, there are plenty of vegan options for those of us who want to wear cruelty-free footwear, but also want to make walking long distances difficult.

1) Mooshoes: independent boutique in New York City goes digital, carrying brands such as Olsen Haus, Hearts of Darkness and Macbeth
Jeffrey Campbell Vita
2) Alternative Outfitters: entirely vegan, and not just limited to shoes (think coats and accessories), as well as reasonably priced
3) Lulu's: Trendy, difficult to walk in shoes with a vegan search option. Perfect. Okay, they aren't all difficult to walk in, but you're picking up what I'm putting down, right?
4) True Love: You have to be in Denver to shop here, but what a treasure! All vegan shoe store with very reasonable prices that sometimes hands out champagne while you're shopping. There's also vegan ice cream next door
5) Zappos: Again, utilize that vegan search function. This one skews towards practical shoes.
6) Madden Girl: Steve Madden's unintentionally vegan line. I usually pick these up at DSW (in the clearance section).

I know there's more out there- what's your favorite vegan friendly shoe source?

Also, I am aware that this is the vegan month of food, but shoes are important.

  1. Shoes ARE important. Also, I found a pair of those Maddens at TJ Maxx for $24.99 but they were too big and slipped off. But aren't they AWESOME? http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/ltlghiagrl/IMG_0578.jpg

  3. I just ordered me some Macbeth's from loserkids.com. I tried to get some from mooshoes, but they were out of my size.

  5. AWESOME KITTEN SHOES OMG.
I wish I were a sassy vegan. Instead, I'm a vegan with sensible Sauconys - made with hemp and canvas!
How does anyone feel about hand-me-down/second hand non-vegan shoes? (Not in the ew-gross, some one else's feet kind of way; the is that kosher kind of way)

  6. I was really hoping that since Jeffrey Campbell has a vegan line that they would be, since I couldn't find an individual materials listing for just the cat shoe. Boo, JC.

I do thrifted shoes, but your mileage may vary.

  7. Thanks for this post! I really, really, really don't care about shoes, but every once in a while I meet someone who has shoes as their cheese - I'm sure you get my meaning. Now I'll have this handy post to point them to!

  8. I love me some shoes. Too bad I almost killed myself in every pair of heels I've ever worn.

  9. For vegan-looking vegan shoes and sneakers, I go with Earth's vegan line; I love the inverted heel, it's been awesome for my back.

For break yo' neck/blister yo' feet vegan shoes or stylish boots, I mostly do Target clearance.
